The bouquets will definitely be fresh, but I think we've decided on silk table centerpieces. Originally, I was kind of iffy on having fake flowers, but after I saw the silks that the florist had created, I was amazed at how real they looked. In fact, I didn't know that they were silk until the florist told us so!
My mom and I thought that silk flower centerpieces might be a nice memento, since it's customary that you choose someone at each table to take home a centerpiece. Fresh flowers would eventually be thrown out once they die, but silk flowers would last forever. It will be nice for my mom, grandma, aunt, Adrian's mom, and of course, me and Adrian, and some other close friends, to have an everlasting beautiful reminder of our wedding.
Since our colors are purplish and (according to the florist) purple flowers tend to look faded in the evening, it would be a perfect way to match everything to our wedding colors of lavender, royal purple, and silver without having crappy looking flowers. My idea of a centerpiece includes a circle of flowers around a pretty candle in a hurricane candle holder. I want something that's pretty, simple, and elegant.
I think it would be cool to someday show our children a lovely silk centerpiece that was used in our wedding!
Additionally, a date has been set for my bridal shower, which will be Sunday, March 7th. This is the week of spring break for both UF and UCF, so hopefully many of my friends will be able to attend. We plan to have a morning brunch, around 11am, so that if people need to drive far distances that evening to get home, they won't be getting back terribly late. My Aunt Leslie is throwing the bridal shower for me, and I know it's going to be a lot of fun. :)
