10:58 am - Wedding Countdowns!

I've updated The Ziemkowski Family Web portal and our wedding site with live countdowns on them. Just 33 days from the time of this post (Karen's first day at Carnival), wow!

About all I have to do is buy my wedding kippah, get my hair cut two weeks before the wedding, and meet with the photographer to go over my one request (I really want it done on my 4x5 large format camera, as it can correct the perspective issue, but as much as I think I'll regret it, I just can't see dealing with that unless the photographer has 4x5 experience). I suppose I ought to get refitted for my tux since I've been losing weight recenlty.

11:41 pm - 39 days to go!

The wedding of my friends Jaime and Gary over this past weekend really hit home that Adrian and I will also be married very soon!

Both wedding rings have been purchased. Adrian's is a silver and gold ring with "Ani L'dodi v'dodi li" engraved on it in Hebrew. It translates in English to "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine," which I think is a beautiful saying from Song of Songs. My own wedding ring is gold with a row of diamonds across the top. It is a beautiful, perfect ring. I cannot wait until the day when I get to wear it forever!

We have also purchased our Ketubah, which is the Jewish certificate of marriage. It looks like this:

The picture is small, but if you were to look at the real one, you would see a beautiful image of Jerusalem under a blanket of stars.

Basically everything is done. To give you an idea of what we have left to do, here is my to-do list for the next 39 days!

- Pick up place cards and yarmulkes
- Buy or make a basket to hold the yarmulkes
- Get place cards calligraphied
- Order cocktail and long napkins
- Work out seating chart for wedding guests
- Finalize rehearsal dinner/guests with dzlady
- Design wedding program
- Contact people who have still not RSVPed
- Decide on a hair stylist for the wedding day
- Put together the "party favors" for the reception
- Put together toiletries baskets for the bathrooms
- Put together goodie packs for friends/family staying at the hotel
- Go over music and flow of the reception with the band leader
- Make final wedding gown fittings
- Have all men involved make their final tux fittings
- Make sure bridesmaids have their gowns altered and shoes purchased
- Wrap bridesmaids gifts
- Make sure Adrian buys/wraps groomsmen's gifts
- Write thank-you cards for gifts received before the wedding
- Go through childhood photos for the wedding video
- Meet with photographer to discuss photos/styles

Wow... that's definitely more than I thought! Hopefullly a few things will be done by this weekend... or at least I can dream, lol.

All I can say is that it really pays off to get the big stuff taken care of way in advance. I don't know how people plan big weddings in just a couple of months. There is so much to do!

Wow - today is the two month mark in the countdown to the wedding.

Everything is happening so fast! Adrian turns 25 this week, and I turn 22 in a little more than two months.

I just graduated from college, and soon I will be a married woman!

1:45 am - I Miss Adrian

I really miss Adrian. By the time he comes up to Gainesville on Friday, it will have been just about two weeks that we have been separated. Not since Adrian was living in California nearly two years ago, have we been separated for this length of time.

I miss him. :(

1:26 am - Checking things off the list!

What a busy week I've had here at my parents' house! Here's what we've done:

- Bought shoes for the wedding
- Picked out the wedding cake (don't worry, it's delicious!)
- Chose flowers and bouquet styles
- Met with the leader of the wedding band about songs we want played
- Wedding dress fitting and choosing a tiara (Thursday)
- Found a hair salon, made an appointment for practice styling (Friday)
- Picked out ring bearer pillows, flower girl basket, and guestbook

There isn't much left to do! Everything is really coming together.

We finally decided that we wanted to have a flower girl and ring bearer. Adrian has a trio of cute little cousins, but we very well couldn't leave anyone out, so we decided to use all three! Jessica will be our flower girl, and Sean and Cody will be the dual ring bearers and escort their sister down the aisle. We think it's going to be adorable! Each boy will have his own pillow. One pillow will go to the Maid of Honor (Lissa) and the other will go to the Best Man (John).

Less than four months to go... it's crazy how time flies!

10:08 am - Our Californian Vacation

I finally got around to writing about the trip that Adrian and I took to California over the holidays. It's very long, has a billion photos, and is also posted in my own LJ, so I'm going to lj-cut it. I doubt Adrian will write anything, especially anything this detailed, so if you want to read about what we did and see lots of fun photos, then click the lj-cut! :)

12:11 pm - Invitations

I forgot to mention in my last entry that we finally picked out invitations! They are square in shape (thought we'd pick something unique), and they are very elegant with a shimmering ivory bordering and "braided" raised pattern.

I had been worried about finding an invitation that suited us, but Adrian and I were able to pick ours out together in just a few minutes. It's great that we both have similar tastes. :)

I can't wait until we send them out in a few months! They're so pretty. Hopefully by the time we mail them, the new wedding-themed postage stamps will have been released. I think it'd be a nice touch!

Now, I just have to find cute invitations for my bridal shower. :)

10:33 pm - Centerpieces and Bridal Shower

The other day, my mom and I went to the florist to get some ideas about my bouquet, the bridesmaids' bouquets, and the groomsmen's bouttonniers. The florist we checked out (Bloomie's Flowers) had done the Honda Classic banquets for a few years at the same hotel that our wedding is at. They do both fresh and silk flowers.

The bouquets will definitely be fresh, but I think we've decided on silk table centerpieces. Originally, I was kind of iffy on having fake flowers, but after I saw the silks that the florist had created, I was amazed at how real they looked. In fact, I didn't know that they were silk until the florist told us so!

My mom and I thought that silk flower centerpieces might be a nice memento, since it's customary that you choose someone at each table to take home a centerpiece. Fresh flowers would eventually be thrown out once they die, but silk flowers would last forever. It will be nice for my mom, grandma, aunt, Adrian's mom, and of course, me and Adrian, and some other close friends, to have an everlasting beautiful reminder of our wedding.

Since our colors are purplish and (according to the florist) purple flowers tend to look faded in the evening, it would be a perfect way to match everything to our wedding colors of lavender, royal purple, and silver without having crappy looking flowers. My idea of a centerpiece includes a circle of flowers around a pretty candle in a hurricane candle holder. I want something that's pretty, simple, and elegant.

I think it would be cool to someday show our children a lovely silk centerpiece that was used in our wedding!

Additionally, a date has been set for my bridal shower, which will be Sunday, March 7th. This is the week of spring break for both UF and UCF, so hopefully many of my friends will be able to attend. We plan to have a morning brunch, around 11am, so that if people need to drive far distances that evening to get home, they won't be getting back terribly late. My Aunt Leslie is throwing the bridal shower for me, and I know it's going to be a lot of fun. :)

10:26 am - Moving once again! :)

(this entry was crossposted from my journal.)

For a while now, we've been aggravated at the lack of space we have in our one-bedroom apartment, especially now that we have another member of our household - Maya. We simply need more room.

Yesterday morning, my parents and I went over to the office and spoke to the apartment manager. It just so happens that someone is moving out of a two-bed/two-bath apartment next month! We should be able to move in by February!

The new place is nearly 500 sq. ft. larger than our current apartment and we won't be paying too much more. Best of all, we'll have a washer and dryer!!!!!!! Both Adrian and I are incredibly excited about this. Plus, we'll each have our own closets, with mine being the Master Bedroom's walk-in, and Adrian taking the computer room's wall-length closet. It's going to be amaaaazing!

Everything is pro-rated, so there's no "double rent," the deposit will transfer from one apartment to the other, and it doesn't extend our lease any further, either... though that doesn't matter, since we plan to stay here for a while, anyway.

This is so exciting. We had been looking at houses this past weekend, and although there were some good prices out there, we all concluded that we should really wait, and just save more money.

Now that we'll have the space, we plan on buying a few more things for our place when we have the money. We've been using a plastic "trunk" as a coffee table, and really want a real table. Additionally, we want a new dresser, a huge bookshelf to house our library, and Adrian wants one of those L-shaped desks for the office.

10:46 am - Six months and 15 days until the big day!

Wedding Site Updates: The About Us page is finished, finally! I wrote up the story of how Adrian and I met.

The only page now that is unfinished is the Photographs page. When we get back from San Diego (five days til we leave!), maybe I'll have some time to work on it.

9:36 am - Almost done...

The past week and a half have been filled with thank-you card writing. I am finally down to 9 cards left, from a total of around 30 or so.

It's a relief to me to have gotten all of this done so quickly, though my hand and wrist don't like it too much! At least it's almost done... thank goodness!

Next items on the wedding to-do list:
- Pick out invitations
- Pick out flowers
- Pick out cake

1:54 pm - Wedding Website Update

I have updated the wedding website to include a section on Jewish Wedding Ceremonies, so that our guests who have never experienced a wedding in the Jewish tradition may learn a little about what goes on.

Please check out the site - the new page includes lots of photos and great explanations.
